Mr. C's Corner

To keep the community of St. Patrick more informed i've created this blog with the help of some very supportive parents. Please become a follower and spread the word to your family and friends. If you have any announcements of your own for our school I would be more than happy to help communicate them.

A "HERO" essay published by our own graduate Paige Brown

Hero from ABC’s to 123’s

Can you imagine a kindergartener learning a life lesson? Let alone the math lesson?

One of the most vivid memories in my brain is the first day of kindergarten. I remember every last detail. I was wearing my brand new jumper and my white Peter Pan button down collared shirt. Stepping into the front doors of school I felt nervous and confused.  Coming to the threshold of the kindergarten classroom, I take one, two, yet another step and there I was. Suddenly the feeling of nervousness and insecurity were gone because of the sweet voice that greeted me with a smile. Thinking nothing of it I ran off to play. This person with the loving smile is Mrs. Walsh, my kindergarten teacher, my Michigan hero, and the most memorable person you will ever meet. She is also the person who held my hands in becoming the smart, independent young woman I am today.

When I was well past my kindergarten days she was diagnosed with breast cancer, the news would have worried me more if I had not been taught by her that a loving heart, a kind soul, and an intimate love for Jesus Christ could easily be stronger than any army. She soon recovered and is now cancer free.

Everything my other teachers taught me are going to help me get a job and build my mental capacity, but Mrs. Walsh taught me things to help me be a stronger more independent person and that is something I will always be grateful for.
