Mr. C's Corner

To keep the community of St. Patrick more informed i've created this blog with the help of some very supportive parents. Please become a follower and spread the word to your family and friends. If you have any announcements of your own for our school I would be more than happy to help communicate them.

Saint Pat's is Going GREEN!

Our school will receive a 2011 GREEN level certificate from Kent Intermediate School District and Kent County at the Green School Awards Ceremony near Earth Day.

A big thanks to our very own Ed Donahue for overseeing the commitment to making our school more environmentally friendly.

In an effort to continue our green theme, we are asking for dishwasher safe plates, cups and utensils to be donated to our cafeteria to minimize the amount of disposable items. Get rid of those old dishes and be a part of helping your school to be more environmentally friendly.

Diocesan Wide Survey - Your Input is Important

INVITATION – Catholic Schools Need Your Input!
Please take a few moments to complete a 12-question electronic survey about the vision for Catholic schools in the Diocese of Grand Rapids.  This survey is the culmination of nearly a year-long process of drafts and revisions utilizing input from pastors, principals, boards, and teachers identifying a common mission and vision for schools within the diocese of Grand Rapids.  It is now time to offer this vision to the entire Catholic community for input. After receiving the results of this diocese-wide survey, the diocesan board’s vision committee will refine the mission and vision for our schools into a final format.  In June, this vision will become our broad statement of common mission and vision for Catholic schools in our diocese.  The web address below will take you directly to the survey. It’s quick and simple to complete. Just type the following web address into your browser and hit enter. The parish or school with the greatest percentage of households participating will win an ice cream social.

Thank you for your participation in this important process!

Science Olympiad

Today our students wore their T-shirts from the Science Olympiad competition that they participated in on Saturday. Students were able to participate in a variety of different hands-on enrichment activities and compete with other schools in the area. Congratulations to everyone who participated and a big thank you to Mrs. Kevic and all of our volunteer coaches who make this possible.

Great Work!!

My family joined me for our first Dinner in the Green and we look forward to many more! Great event everyone!!

St. Patrick's Day was an enormous event at our school. Students dressed up as Saints, worshipped at Mass together, made soda bread and even enjoyed green punch and green popcorn.

BLANKETS FOR BABIES IS BACK!

The St. Patrick School students are in need of some helpers to assist students to cut, iron, and sew flannel blankets for the layettes given out at the St. Mary Pregnancy Resource Center. Our session will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays during Lent and we will start on Tuesday, March 15 at 11:45.  The sessions run about one half hour. If you have flannel material to donate (we need pieces large enough to become a square blanket), a portable sewing machine that we could use for a few weeks, a good pair of scissors that we could borrow, or white cotton thread, please drop them off at the school or call the office at 691-8833. Volunteers need to comply with the diocesan regulations which includes the school getting a background check.
